Transport
The transportation of students of the European School Karlsruhe is organised by an independent association, the Transport Committee. From the committee you will receive all necessary information about school transport. The financing of the committee is made through management fees and an extra levy for transportation. Without these earnings, the committee couldn’t exist.
The amount that parents play is the price of one ticket for public transport. The committee works closely with the school and sports department of Karlsruhe, the KVV (Karlsruher linked transport system) and with the Südwestbus, to organise and finance school buses, and school trams.
How much is the transport to the European School Karlsruhe?
The costs are composed of:
1. Administrative charges (21 € per family per year) and
2. The extra levy of 20 € per primary school student in classes 1 to 4.
3. The price of the Scoolcard, which is set each year by the "Verkehrsbetrieben Karlsruhe". You can find more information here.
It is imperative that all students request the tickets from the transport committee and pay the costs. Grants can only be approved with children who are registered.
The students can use the school buses, and school trams only with the SCOOLCARD, and not with the use of transferable tickets.
After registration from September 2010 on there are four buses and three trams available. In addition students can use all trams and buses from KVV (Karlsruher linked transport system) after school hours and on holidays.
Kindergarten children are allowed to use the school buses by appointment only and payment of fees to the Transport Committee . (See Link "How do I order my ticket?")
Chairman of the Association is: Mr T. Reineke, General manager is: Ms L. Meyer
