The European Schools Science Symposium

Opening ceremony



The participants were welcomed by Tom Høyem, Director of the European School Karlsruhe, and by Daphne Scobie, who had helped organise the event, before being entertained by pupils of the ESK with a performance based around the themes of air, flame and water.


 

We provide mother-tongue education—in different language sections—from Kindergarten up to Baccalaureate level (university entrance) for around 1000 pupils from a wide variety of backgrounds. Currently 16 languages are taught in the school, and 49 different nationalities are represented. The European Baccalaureate, awarded ONLY by the European Schools, is recognised as a qualification for university entrance by all member states of the European Union and by other countries including the USA.
