 “ Juno and the Paycock”

A tragic – comedy in 3 acts by Sean O`Casey.

It is set during the Irish civil war 1921 – 1923 when:

                                               brother fought brother

                                               friend fought friend

                                               family fought family

It portrays the effects of a country torn apart and in turmoil, all because of some words in a treaty which very few understood. O’Casey presents us with an average Dublin working-class family against the backdrop of this war. They struggle with near poverty but the playwright imbues his characters with an indomitable spirit and a wry humor.
