Das 50. Jubiläum des Europäischen Parlamentes

On 12 March 2008 the European Parliament celebrated its 50th

The European Parliament invited our school choir, ESKADO, to take part in the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the European Parliament.

The celebrations were held at the European Parliament in Strasbourg and a group of children from the ESKADO choir, representing the 27 EU member states, went to Strasbourg where they sang for the president of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pöttering. The choir, which is directed by the teacher, Barbara Braun and the pianist, Monique Spranger, sang a Happy-Birthday-Medley in German, Danish, English, French and Italian. The Medley was especially composed for President Pöttering, whose theme for 2008 is intercultural dialogues.

The performance went very well; the children were excellent ambassadors for the European School Karlsruhe. In his speech, President Pöttering said to the children, that perhaps one day they would be European parliamentarians, or even president of the parliament, at the next anniversary in 50 years.
