What is the Parents AssociationThe Parents Association of the European School Karlsruhe represents the interest of all parents with the aim to support and advance the educational process of their children. The Parents Association is registered as a non-profit organisation. Membership is voluntary and the annual fee amounts to 15,-€ per family. Approximately two third of the parents are members of the PA. All interested parents are welcome.
MembershipThe work of the Parents Association is very important for all families of the ESK and we all together should support this work. The first step is to become a member. Please complete the form for membership application 2008-2009. You can either transfer the fee or better have it deducted from your account by direct debit. The deduction by direct debit is always taken by 1st November of each year. If you are already member of the PA, you just need to transfer the amount at the beginning of each new school year. The membership ends automatically if you haven't transferred the fee for the running school year by 30th November 2008. Please inform the PA, if you have moved or your telephone number has changed. Please transfer the annual membership fee - 15,-€ per family - until 30th November 2008 to the following account number.
What we doThe Parents Association represents the parents in the destined committees, stating ideas and wishes of parents, taking a stand on issues and offering suggestions. Within the ESK the PA works in the following committees:
* Educational Council *
Working groups, created according to need.
InterparentsThe Board of Directors of the Parents Association takes care of numerous issues within the Parents Association. Members of the Board are elected by the General Assembly. Each language section is represented on the Board of Directors. The structure and duties of the Board of Directors are specified in the statutes which are valid for all European Schools.
InterparentsThe Parents' Associations of all European Schools are
joined under the umbrella organisation Interparents and represented
in the Board of Governors in Brussels. The Parents' Association in Karlsruhe
is obliged to pay € 0,87 to Interparents for each student of the
school, irrespective of whether his/her parents have signed up as members
or not.
InformationOnce a year the General Assembly takes place, at which the Board of Directors reports on the activities from the past school year. Specific subject meetings take place when needed. During regular periods the Parents Association gives out information through its brochure EUREKA and the Newsletter.
